WOYWW 191

It's Wednesday! There is a significance to today.  It's the day I post a pic of my workdesk and join in a HUGE blog tour of many other crafters showing off their desks!  This is all compliments of Julia Dunnit over at the Stamping Ground out of England!  Check out the  blog hoppers at her place, the Stamping Ground.  But for now here's my desk:

Hmmm.... what's going on here....  By my Kia scissors are some stamps.  There are 4 new ones that I'm so wanting to play with from QKR Stampede.  Two are for Easter and two are for Valentine's Day.  Under them is a CD of horse stamps as I need to make a birthday card for our grandson-in-law.  On the scrap paper is another Valentine in progress with clear crystals and scrap paper.  I'm trying to use up some scraps.  To the left of the pad is a Valentine that I posted a couple days ago.

I have no other projects to post yet as I've not been feeling 100%.  Monday I had a migraine headache and was totally non-functional.  Yesterday I worked and attended Bible Study.  Today I'll be going with my mom to see her cancer doctor to get the results of her blood work from last week.  Hopefully this afternoon I'll be able to "play"!

So now, click HERE to go to the Stamping Ground and look around at desks around the world!  I'm link 103 so that'll give you an idea of how many take part in this hop!  Have fun!

A Couple Quick Valentines

I had some cool Authentique  paper left over from a class that is just too cute! The sheet is called Greetings and has some vintage-looking images.

Isn't it just too cute???
Anyway.... I made a couple quick and simple cards from various papers from this collection along with some solid card stocks.

I added the black rhinestones for that touch of bling.  I'm trying to decide if I went a bit overboard with the rhinestones.  What do you think?

And there are 3 clear rhinestones on this card. I really needed to get something made for today's post as I was busy all weekend and just didn't get to my work desk until late yesterday afternoon. I bet these 2 cards didn't take 1/2 hour to put together.  Maybe later today I can do some blurfing and get more inspiration.

3rd Box Corner Card

I finally finished the 3rd card sample for my Feb. 20th class.  Still need to get the supply list put together for the 3 cards which will take an hour.

Here's the cover. The text is from The Angel Company.  It's a bit more simple that the other 2 but the inside took a bit more time... in coloring.

Stamped images are by: Inkadinkado (text),  Taylored Artwork (cactus with sun), and Viva Las Vegas Stamps (pottery).  Scenes are colored with Copic markers.

A little closer look at the scenes.  I think I need to stamp off a few of the sun scene.  I really like that image!
These Box Corner Cards have been inspired by Technique Junkies.  Great place to learn new techniques and ideas!   I've also been told that when you post a picture of a card/craft that you MUST give credit to whomever "inspired" you.  This will be difficult as I get some much inspiration from so many!!  I will try from now on.  Also need to learn about "hashtag" or some such thing.  Guess I'll be doing some searching on these things to not only protect my stuff but others as well.

Tomorrow hubby has a honey-do job.  The agitator in my 20+ year old washer quit agitating (which has me agitated!).  We've replaced a couple parts over the years but they just don't make washers like this old Whirlpool anymore.  It's moved 5 times from WY(town) to WY (farm) to MT to WY to AZ   A bit of sentimental attachment to it but it's a great machine.

WOYWW 190... and more

My computer is home and I can upload photos to my albums!  I like the laptop but I love my tower!  Anyway, I got a shot of my desk and, as part of the What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday, Week 190, I am ready to show you my "mess".  Thanks to Julia at the Stamping Ground for putting together this gigantic blog hop across the world of desks!  Be sure you click on her blog name and do some blurfing (blog surfing)!

Ok. What do I have here?  I have a Fiskars Bubble border punch that I used to prepare for a class this afternoon along with the supply list.  The paper for the class is on the left along with some Valentine stamps.  After cutting the paper for the class I found an error on the supply list to need to correct it.  As of Monday there is 4 "students" and I'm prepared for 6.  Any extra kits will be packaged and sold at the store.

And I finally got pictures downloaded from my phone (I don't have a smart phone, didn't want to pay for more internet).  Our youngest son's girlfriend is an interior designer/decorator and she sent me this pic of the candle holder I made for her from my grandmother's good dishes and some crystal...

Isn't it lovely!! I will have to do mine like this next year.  Right now I need to decorate for Valentine's Day but haven't found anything to use yet.  Oh well.

So please go to the Stamping Ground and join the hop!

Sick computer

My PC picked up a virus while visiting a friends blog and is now in the shop.  First FireFox crashed as that's what browser I was in when I was blurfing (blog surfing).  So I started working my blog in Google Chrome.  Then Chrome crashed.  Bummer.  My laptop is ok and that's where I'm at now. Hopefully I'll have my PC back sometime this afternoon.  Meanwhile, I've been getting my "kits" ready for a class at the AZ Scrapbooking store tomorrow and finishing up the Box Corner cards I need for samples of my Feb. 20 class at the store.  Stay tuned!  Hopefully I'll be able to show you my desk tomorrow for the What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday!

Mid afternoon update:  Computer is home!!!  FireFox is working great and all my bookmarks are back! My 'puter had a bunch of viruses and some trojan worms due to  antivirus program failed.  New antivirus installed: Microsoft Security.  It's wonderful being back online!

Southwest Pottery

I just finished my 2nd card sample for my Feb. 20th class of Box Corner cards.  I'm using assorted store-owned image stamps and my personal text stamps.  Most pattern paper is by We R Memory Keepers.

Cover with ribbon tie closure....

Inside with images colored with copic markers....

Close-up of images....  I was thinking of cutting the grass of the image on the left but I was concerned of it tearing or breaking.  I like this.  How do you like this?  I have 1 more to make but I'm not thrilled with the pueblo image I have.  May have to do something different with it.

A winner and some javalinas....

A winner!!!  I had my hubby draw a name from the can...  there were 10 entries when I counted shared posts and new followers.... and TA DA!  Diana!!!  You are the winner of the blog candy!!! I have to admit, I knew most everyone that entered.  I was wanting everyone to be drawn but, alas, it just doesn't work that way.  Anyway, Diana, I'll be contacting you to get your mailing address.  And now for the javalinas.

Did you know that even though they look like pigs these creatures are related to rats?  They are quite vicious at times and very destructive to yards - they eat most anything!  I will be teaching a card class Feb. 20th at the AZ Scrapbooking store in Green Valley, AZ and this is the first sample I've finished for that class...

Here the card is closed.  It's a 4" square at this point.

The open card.... The javalinas are popped out for dimension.

Here's a closer look at the javalinas.  I colored them with my copic markers.   My class will make 3 different cards and I hope to get the others completed soon.  How do you like this style of card?

I do have a picture of the Free Standing Pop Up cards my class made last Wednesday.  I just need to get them off my phone...

WOYWW 189 and Breakfast!

What a combination you say!  Yeah, today we celebrate our desks through a fabulous blog hop sponsored by Julia at the Stamping Ground.   But I also have to show you some cool "rolls" I made after seeing something on either FaceBook or Pinterest.  But first, my desk from last night....

I have been totally uninspired the last few days.  Not much here but a bunch of mess/untidiness.  You see some sheets of directions for a class I'm teaching this afternoon.... the Free-Standing Pop Up.  I've posted a few of these cards in the last few weeks.  Also there is my calculator as I had to balance my checkbook and I love my OTT light.  My eyes are getting old enough that better light in necessary.  Hmmm... to the left of the calculator is some stamps - they need to get packed, too, for the class.  I really need to get my mojo back.  Haven't done anything in a week!! (A short time after this picture I got to working on some February class samples and there was card stock, stamps, and ink everywhere. Mojo is peeking in the room momentarily.)  But I did cook today!!!  Are you hungry?  Got your coffee in hand?

I put my waffle irons in my George Foreman grill and opened the canned cinnamon rolls....

The grill was set to medium high and heated when I added the rolls as shown.  Lower the lid, cook for a couple minutes and.......

Yummy!!!  Hubby got a real kick out of these and there was only 1 left (I ate 3 and he ate 4)!!  The last went into his lunchbox.  These rolls had a caramel sauce rather than icing but, oh my!!  Guess I better get myself off to Curves and get these worked off!

So, leave a comment and head off to the Stamping Ground (click on blog name) and enjoy looking at other work areas.  There's some great inspiration out there!  I'll be looking when I get back from working off these mini waffles!

Thanks A Latte

Last Wednesday I taught a private class to a friend at her home.  I showed her how to make a Double Tea Bag Holder and Double Pocket Card.  I finally finished my Double Pocket Card yesterday and here it is....

This is double sided paper, not card stock.  It worked GREAT for this design as the folded edges didn't crack.  I have NO idea who made it, it was from a stack I purchased a couple years ago to have on hand for my G.V.R. classes in case my students needed some.

I goofed a bit with the tag. I used 2 different Spellbinder Labels dies and some The Twinery twine for it.  Both stamped images are from The Angel Co.  How do you like my rosette?  I recently purchased a Cricut cardtridge called Ribbons and Rosettes.  How cool!!

Here it is a bit closer.  The paper did crack a bit on this but I like how it turned out.  I made the rosette from a small strip of left-over paper.  I colored the cup with PrismaColor pencils and added some Stardust Clear Gel pen to the "coffee."  What do you think?  If you live in the Green Valley, AZ area I will be teaching this class again at the AZ Scrapbooking store on Jan. 30th at 1 pm.

Sunflowers and a Wooden Tray

This past Christmas my folks purchased a dried fruit tray for them and my brother and his family. It came on a really cool wooden tray and my sister-in-law thought I'd want it.  I'm so glad they saved it for me!

Here's the tray.  Do you see the possibilities??

I love sunflowers and had this cool sheet from K & Company. I used Royal Coat Decoupage Finish to seal the tray then again to attach the paper.  I did have some problems with air bubbles but got most of them out.

It's not done yet as I need to coat it with some Crystal Lacquer or Diamond Glaze in case of liquid spilling on it.

I added a bit of green cording around the edge to help cover some sloppy cutting.  Worked pretty good!

What have you recycled or reused lately?

WOYWW 188 and more Valentines

Ah Wednesday....   That special day when you get to see my work desk and the desks of many other papercrafters around the world.  Julia at the Stamping Ground sure came up with something when she started this long ago!  My desk is a bit empty.  Some stuff has been put away but I do need to get some things pulled for blog candy for my upcoming blogiversary.  But anyway, here's my desk.  My desk lighting is a bit wonky.   Guess I need to turn off my OTT lamp and just let the camera flash do it's work.  I did scoot the small paper scraps off the the right.  I really need to get them either tosses in "file 13" or put in the bucket that's already overflowing.

You can see the hearts I'm getting ready to cut out and the stamps that I used just to the left of my Scor-Pal. I need a bunch of Valentines to sell and mail.  This card has been posted previously so I won't show any more of it. Soon my desk will be covered with stuff I need to teach to a class this afternoon. Can't forgot more stamps, acrylic blocks, ink, whatever.

I did get a couple more Valentines made this past week.

Only the "Laugh" is stamped.  This little boy and the pattern paper is by Authentique.  The boy is from a group of "vintage" looking images.  They are so cute!

This little hedgehog is from a set by The Angel Company.  I have HUNDREDS of stamps from the company but then, I was an independent consultant for 10 years before they closed in August of 2011.  The paper is also from TAC.  I had some bakers twine from The Twinery that matched the card base very nicely and I used the Bubbles border punch from Fiskars.

I colored the image with Copic markers.  If you look close you'll see the hedgehog's dark fur is "mottled" and the hearts in the wagon have a shiny spot. And I put rhinestones on the wheels for that touch of bling.  I think this card will be for one of our granddaughters.  I need to make a western one for our great-grandson so will have to go digging for just the right paper.

So now that you've reached the bottom of my post please leave a comment then click on Stamping Ground and check out the other desks.  You'll see a lot of cool ideas and will be inspired!

More Valentines

I love sending cards to our kids and their families and I've been going like crazy getting some made.  Here's 2 more that I made last week.

I'm using paper I purchased from The Angel Company as I have so MUCH!!!  These patterns & tag are from a collection called Penelope.  Very rich colors.  The text and heart are also TAC stamps.  It's been a long time since I used white as my bottom layers.  I think it made the colors pop!

Here's one using only white paper.  The technique is called Stamped Punched Window which I seen over on Technique Tuesday's blog. I got a bit lopsided with my stamping on the top layer.  Didn't notice that until I was writing this post. Bummer.....

I used a Spellbinder Label die to cut the window and saved the cut-out to stamp and adhere under the opening.  The hearts are from a set that I have no idea who made them but the text is from TAC sets.  I embossed using a Spellbinder embossing folder and my Wizard which is adhered using foam mounting tape to raise it up.  I will have to try this technique again!  I like it!  What do you think?

Love and a Funky Heart

I'm still trying to use up this one paper pack from The Angel Company when I found a "negative" scrap that I had left over from using my Cricut.  Of course, I had to use it!!

The text is also from a set by The Angel Company.  I love how the heart looks with the blue background!

Here you can see it a little better.  So feminine! And the paper is perfect, to me, with all the swirls!  And, of course, I had to add 3 large rhinestones to finish off the bottom of the card!  What do you think?

Then, while I was blurfing (blog surfing) some of the blogs I follow I came across Lauri Willison's Soapbox Creations and I was so taken with this simple card that I CASE'd it!

Isn't this absolutely elegant in its simplicity???  You need to check out her projects!!!

A Spring Peony

Southern Arizona is not known for the winter weather that the northern half of the United States gets.  We used to live in northwest Wyoming and boy, could we get snow, wind, and freezing temperatures!!  But we also enjoyed skiing in Red Lodge, MT so we didn't mind the snow quite so much at times.  But I was checking out Operation Write Home yesterday and they were having a Midweek Throwdown Challenge  of spring flowers.  Hmmm..... yeah, a bit of spring color would be nice so I came up with this....

This peony and text is from a The Angel Co. set called Dotted Peony.  The paper is also from TAC (and it's almost all gone). I colored the peony with Copic markers.

You can see in this pic that I pierced the green chevron for a bit more embellishment. I seen this sketch design recently as I was blurfing (blog surfing) and used it for this card.  Well, now that you have enjoyed my touch of spring check out OWH (click on their name above to go to their site) and check out more spring flower!
