Another Flap Fold Cards

I finally finished my sample cards for my Dec. class.  Whew!  Got the directions/supply lists wrote up and all the photos taken that I needed.  And yesterday I got the cards in to the AZ Scrapbooking store in Green Valley, AZ.  Still have a couple kits to put together and hope to get them started today.

Anyway, are you ready to see a card??

I decided I needed a masculine card in the group.  This cool roadster is from a set by Hero Arts called Going 4x4.

It is kinda hard to see but I embossed the 2 green layers with a Cuttlebug folder called Diamond grid.  This is a familiar pattern on trucks, stock trailers, and tool boxes... at least it was on our farm in northwest WY.  I colored the car with Copic markers and added some Stardust Clear gel pen to the headlights and windshield.

Here's the inside flap. The blue layer is also embossed.  And all the way inside is a Happy Birthday text.  I do have one more card but will save that for my next post.  (Besides, it's not uploaded to Picasso yet!)

WOYWW 182 and more!

I'm back!  We got home Sunday evening and I have yet to get into playing at my desk.  And today, being Wednesday, is the day you get to look at my desk and see the mess!  Oh my... yes, it's messy! I had my overhead light on but it's still dark, but then, I took this picture last night and as of this morning, nothings changed!

I have a new OTT light!  Got it at Walmart for about $26. I am working on some card samples for a December 10 class at the AZ Scrapbooking store in Green Valley, AZ. And hopefully I'll get the clutter cleaned up and have a bit more organization when I get my samples done... yeah, right!  Anyway, the "fun" view is compliments of Julia over at the Stamping Ground.  She started this 182 weeks ago!  Check out her blog for more desks to view and even her post for week 181 for a bit of history!

I gave those plate candle holders to my stepdaughter and son's girlfriend.  At first they were trying to figure out what they were but then Cassidy's brain started smoking and you could see her eyes light up!  She has all kinds of ideas for decorating the plates or using them to hold goodies for entertaining!  Then Marci got going.  It was truly fun watching them chatter back and forth about what to do!  Well, I got started on mine but I need to get the votive holder for the top.  I found a little bell which is now glued inside the bottom glass....

It's funny how the top plate looks larger than the bottom but they are the same size!!  Here's a closer look at the little bell.  I still need to clean off some excess glue around the glasses...

I'll post the finished project when I get what I need.  Since all these were made for inside use I used E6000 glue.  Worked pretty good!

So leave a comment and check out the Stamping Ground!  Thanks for not abandoning me while I was with our kids!

Folding and Flapping...

Well, here's another Flap Fold card that I worked on prior to going on our holiday trip.  It's for my Dec. 10 class.

Same papers as the previous post Flapping and Folding but no stamps used.

Again, I didn't get the inside completed.  I hope you had a great holiday and, if you shopped Black Friday, that you survived!  I do not usually shop on that day, I prefer to stay out of the malls full of wild people!

Happy Thanksgiving!

This week we are enjoying time with 2 of our adult children in Wyoming.  Weather is definitely colder than Arizona but I so love the state that I love that, too.  I'm so thankful for this time with our kids and friends.

Remember a few posts back I showed you the head of my turkey?  Well, here's the rest of him!  All pattern paper is from BoBunny.

I added an old silvery button to the hat buckle as an embellishment.

Last year I posted some of the history of this wonderful holiday and so I decided not to this time.  I do want to list some of the things I'm thankful for:
the United States and the freedom we have
our families including parents, siblings, kids, grandkids, and great grandkids
our home
food, electricity, and water
our vehicles
and most important.... Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior!

What are you thankful for?

Flapping and Folding....

Now, isn't that post title a doosey??  I was working on my December 10 (originally scheduled for the 5th) class for the AZ Scrapbooking store and decided to do this cute style of card.  I still have a ways to go and hope to have my samples in the store by Nov. 28.  We are in Wyoming at the time of this post so you know that I'm not stamping while visiting with children.  The posts this week are all prescheduled and I am checking in with the laptop.  Anyway, all pattern paper is by Crate Paper and stamps are BoBunny.

Isn't this little birdie just cute??

I decided to do a bit of paper piecing on this particular card.  And at the time I prepared this post I didn't have the inside complete.  I'll get to that when I get home.  I plan on either 3 or 4 cards for the class, depends on how much layering I'll do on the masculine card.

Antique Dishes and candles

I was given some of my grandmother's best dishes but unfortunately, there was only 6 dinner plates, 5 salad plates, and 2 coffee cups that matched and a gorgeous bowl.  My friend, Suzanne, made some fabulous yard art using plates and bowls and I decided to make some Christmas gifts kinda similar to what she made but for indoor use only.  Suzanne used all kinds of bowls, figurines, etc along with some cool glass marbles but, since there is so much "gold design" on these I decided to to add any embellishments.

I had to purchase a couple little candle cups (put on top) and a clear glass bowl to do this.

I seen something like these also on Pinterest.  Now, who shall get these.....  hmmmm....  I have 2 dinner plates and 3 salad plates left to make something else.  Maybe I should make one for me!

The last One Sheet Wonder card

I bet you are glad this is the LAST one!  It's not quite as fancy as the last 2 and I didn't quite coordinate the colors as well....

Again, the focal point stamps are by The Angel Co.  That's just some nice Bazzill for the base...

I did pop dot the tips of the leaves along with the sunflower and center.  There is no bling on this card.  Couldn't figure out what to do..

Have you enjoyed seeing these cards??  I love how one can get such different looks using the 8 1/2" x 11" stamped sheet.   Time now to get some other ideas out of my head and onto cards...

Autumnal Thank You for OWH!

Back in early October I was contacted to do a special card for Operation Write Home.  I am so honored to help!  This is a great organization and their blog is wonderful!

All stamps are from A|Muse Studios.  Pattern paper is from PaperTreyInk.  I love the rich fall colors in this pack.  I had to use my Corner Chomper, I love how it rounds the corners of almost any thickness from chipboard to copy paper with ease!

I have had a pack of yellow/orange fibers for quite some time (like 10 years or so) and this particular fiber works wonderfully with this paper!   The images are stamped on watercolor paper then I used the chisel tip BrushStix by Imagine Crafts/TSUKINEKO to add the streaks of color.  I purchased these at the AZ Scrapbooking store in Green Valley, AZ.

These are different than Fantastix brushes as these are foam tips. Funny, I couldn't find them on the Tsukineko/ImagineCrafts sites.  They are pretty cool. I may have to get more so some can be color dedicated.  The tips do wash up but the tips do stay stained.

Beautiful Dragonfly

This is the next to last One Sheet Wonder card using 7 Gypsies Pretoria stamps.  All the paper, except for the piece the dragonfly is on, is by The Angel Co. Oh, so is the stamp! LOL!

I like how this card looks and it is loaded with bling...  can you see it?

After coloring with Copic markers I loaded the wings with Stickles!  I love how it turned out!  I almost feel like that little critter will fly off the card!  What do you think?

I'm not going to take part of the Stamping Ground's Whats On Your Workdesk Wednesday for the next 2 weeks since it's Thanksgiving and I'm still trying to get ready to go see our kids.  But go ahead and take a look tomorrow or Thursday and enjoy!  And please let me know what you think of my projects.  I SO miss your comments! Thanks!

Finishing the One Sheet Wonder Cards

I finally finished the last 3 cards!  Wahoo!  I will show them one at a time so  I can have time to get ready for Thanksgiving as we're headed to Cheyenne, WY!  I will have my laptop so I will be checking in.

The stamped background used stamps by 7 Gypsies called Pretoria.  The pattern paper and focal image stamps are by The Angel Co.  I have SO much TAC paper I just gotta use it!!

Do you see the dots of Stickles on the flower center and scallops of the green circle?  Gotta have some bling!  I'm getting quite a collection of cards built up again.  Really need to start on Christmas cards...

Howling at the Moon

A while back an acquaintance gave me a bag of old stamps and one really caught my eye.  It's kinda different, kinda country, and totally funny!  It's by Stampa Rosa and has a date of 1999 on the wood block.

I dug through my scrap baskets and found the perfect pattern papers for this card.  The flowers are by The Angel Company.  Now to come up with a phrase....

My hubby looked at this card, stopped, looked again, and said "It's a cow!"  How funny!  This was to be his birthday card but it's still not done and I'm not going to worry about it now. I have other priorities.

Here's what I finally came up with for the front text.  This will become a birthday card for a guy at church.  I'm still thinking about my inside text.  Any ideas??

WOYWW 179

Ah, Wednesday....  I did get a pic of my desk last night after I finished getting things together for class today.  I have 4 coming and 2 kits so that's pretty good.  I missed last week due to getting ready for my sister-in-law's arrival.  She flew home yesterday afternoon and I'm hoping to start stamping again tomorrow.  Don't forget to check out Julia's blog, the Stamping Ground, to get the opportunity to see LOTS of blogs taking part in this viewing of desks.  I enjoy visiting about 10 - 20% of them in my limited time.

Even with my overhead light on the desk photoed dark.  I tried to lighten it a bit in PhotoShop but still dark.  I hope to get a bunch of projects finished before we head to Wyoming the 17th to spend Thanksgiving with 2 of our 3 children.  Anyway, don't forget to go on to Julia's!

Painting and Pumpkins

We are having great fun with Dean's sister, Diane!!  Saturday we watched an event called a "Paint Out" at the Sonoran Desert Museum west of Tucson.  Artists were all along the trail through the "zoo" painting.  They had about 2 hours to paint a scene on a 5" x 7" canvas which was then framed, hung in a small gallery, and sold (if possible).  One of our favorites was sold immediately.  Diane didn't take part as it is a bit difficult to carry an easel and paints on a plane.

We really like this painting, too.  The scene she was painting was the valley below the museum.

Here it is closer.

Yesterday as we sat outside on the patio and visited after church I even got a bit "creative"...

I know it's past Halloween but I love this duct tape!!  I'll probably take this with us to Wyoming in 2 weeks to use as a table decoration or something.  Hopefully I'll get back to making cards on Wednesday.

Art Show and Sculptures....

Yesterday we spent the day at the K Newby Art Gallery in Tubac, AZ.  They were having a juried art show and Dean's sister was involved.  She said there was over 360 artists who applied but only 60 were accepted.  That's quite an accomplishment if one is accepted!!  The sculptures and art works were amazing!!!!

This is Dean's sister, Diane, standing next to her oil painting.  When the light shines on the painting the swan's feathers just glowed!!! Absolutely stunning!!  I did take more pics but not of any of the art in the show as I didn't have permission so I went out into the sculpture garden and took a couple of those that I liked the most....

I just love the colors!!!

This "wire" horse is full sized!  It's rearing on it's hind legs and is fabulous!  I would have liked to have the full horse in the pic but there was so much behind it that you would not have been able to really see the wire work.  There were more wire horses but again, I couldn't get a really good picture.

I hope to have some of my stuff to post soon. Today we'll be at the Desert Museum west of Tucson as Diane has to attend some "paint off" function there.  Hopefully I'll get more pics of the artists and their work.

One Sheet Wonder Cards

Yesterday I taught a class doing the One Sheet Wonder technique.  I've posted 4 cards already and finished a couple more right before class.

The paper is from The Angel Company which closed over a year ago.  I have LOTS of paper from the company as I was an independent demonstrator for them for 10 years.  (I sure miss Mischelle and all the angels.) Anyway, I have NO idea where I got the text stamp as I've had it for 15 years or so.  The background stamps are by 7 Gypsies.

This time the text stamp is by The Angel Co. as is the paper.

Here's a closer look at the little flower embellie I made using small punches.  And a rhinestone for a touch of bling!

I missed the What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday yesterday due to trying to finish up before my class and getting ready for my sister-in-law who arrives at 2:30 pm today.  I think I'm ready....
