Happy Independence Day!!

I know I'm a day early but I decided that's ok.  Since Independence Day falls on Wednesday this year, many will be celebrating either early, on time, or this coming weekend.  Tomorrow we'll be enjoying spending time with our church family as we celebrate.  There will be a pie contest, a potato cannon contest, a super soaker contest, a couple's egg toss contest, and a picnic!  I'm entering a mud pie complete with gummy worms in the pie contest.

I do have a card to share.  I stole borrowed the idea from my friend, Kelly Rae.  Check out her blog HERE.  Anyway, here's my card:


I cut many strips of paper to 3/4" and used my Fiskars Treading Water border punch. (I think 1" strips would have worked better.) I also used a Giga Scalloped Square punch and my star punch.  Not too bad.  And I know I have more stripes than our great flag has.  I didn't try to make my flag exact.


I used the Stardust Clear Gel pen on the stars for bling.  This card will NOT work for Operation Write Home because of the glitter.


I also wanted to show you a picture I took of our bird block last week.  A papa Red Cardinal was feeding his 2 babies!  They could fly but apparently haven't yet learned how to feed themselves.  Papa would take seed from the block then go shove it down their throats!  The bird 2nd from the left got chased away by Papa just seconds after I took this pic.  I had my camera at 16X zoom and I was peeking out our back door.  I sure enjoyed the scene!

I have been very unhappy with the way our country is being told we are not a Christian-based nation and the re-writing of history books to remove God and the Godly people who shaped this nation in its early stages.  And how people are agreeing!!  But, back on Oct. 13, 1932, Chief Justice Charles Evans Hughes said, at the laying of the cornerstone of the Supreme Court building, "The Republic endures and this is the symbol of it's faith."  There is an engraving over the entrance of the Supreme Court building of Moses handing down the Ten Commandments, the basis of law and moral standards/values.

And the Declaration of Independence, signed in 1776 has these words: "When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal status to which the laws of nature and natures' God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.
"We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness...."


Even the Mayflower Compact begins with these words, "In the name of God, Amen."

And the First Amendment to the Bill of Rights state, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press: or the right of people to peacefully assemble, or to petition the government for a redress of grievances."  (In my opinion Islam is being promoted and Christians persecuted.)

Have you read Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg address lately? It ends with "We here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain - that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom - and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."  (Our government now seems to be for the elite and trying to enslave the common man with taxes and extreme regulations.)

(All emphasis above is mine)  This is just a very short list of so many early documents that refer to God. These also show how far from freedom we are straying.  Remember Ronald Regan, our 40th president? He has a great quote and I have a T-shirt with it on it.... "Government is not the solution to the problem. Government is the problem."  He was a wise and Godly man!  He knew that an entitlement nation would be the destruction of itself.  Well, enough of my soapbox.  I AM a Christian, Jesus IS my Lord and Savior.  I believe He will be returning soon for His people.  And I truly believe Christians need to get knee-active and pray for this nation or we will go the way of Europe.  It is sad how this nation is now calling sin good and good evil.
2 Chronicles 7:14: Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.



May this great nation become great again.  Happy Independence Day!

Amen, Carol! We have to take this nation back - November is going to be one of the most, if not the most, important elections in the history of this country.
