Another What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday

I can't believe it.  It's a mess again!  That clean workdesk from last Thursday has disappeared! But I'm in the middle of a couple projects and you can see one kinda on my ScorPal. Check out other desks at the Stamping Ground...

I'm working on a card for tomorrow's post.  I'm trying something a friend gave me to try....  You're gonna have to wait! And. lo and behold, that's a NEW paper trimmer on the far left.  I just got in an order from Memory Works and I really needed a new trimmer.  It's by Fiskars and I have to admit, I still get a bit of a ragged cut from this one, too. Bummer.  But I can find the blades for it anywhere!  My old trimmer by Tonic is a bugger to find replacement blades without doing an internet order.

Now, I need to get my crock-pot soup started and bake a cake for my hubby's lunchbox meals.  And I will finish that card sometime today!  And Happy Leap Year!!!

And another card....

Here's another card I got done at the retreat.  I really didn't stamp a lot as I didn't take much with me due to space constraints and we needed the vehicle space for food, our bodies, suitcases, and the 10 special guests and their LARGE supply carts.

This card was made with inchies.  I stamped the background with a large text stamp by Layers of Color then the black text is by The Angel Co.  The pattern paper is again from Memory Works made by B.G. called Indie Bloom.  All my paper was packed in my suitcase as it wouldn't fit in my toolbox. I did bring some stamps and some embellies.

Aren't these cute little flowers? They were some leftovers from some misc. stuff I used for 5 Thank You cards for our Vendor teachers, a hubby who made the most wonderful Pecan Pie Torte, the cook, and a guest who drove her van.  I don't remember who got this card but I hope she liked it.

A card made at the Retreat....

I did make some cards at the retreat and now have them edited and uploaded.  Are you ready? I'll show you one at a time.  (Gives me more posts that way... :-)

Isn't this paper just gorgeous! It's made by Basic Grey and is called Indie Bloom.  The dahlia is by Layers of Color and the text is by The Angel Co.

I stamped the dahlia 3 times and cut it out in layers.  I added a cute little gold crystal to the center.   I like how this card turned out.  What do you think??

Tag....

Just a quick note before my projects.... Memory Works now has available new 3 Bugs In a Rug paper collections!  Click on the Memory Works button just below my banner to see the gorgeous new products!

At the retreat this past weekend Cindy Moss taught some classes.  She's a rep for many companies, among them Tsunineko.  We played with tags using Ink Potion #9 (which I have), inks, embossing powders, and a lot of new product which was shown at C.H.A. last month in Anaheim, CA.  I made 5 tags and LOVE 4 of them.  Here they are:

I'm not too thrilled about the bottom one but will show you some close ups now....

Isn't this just yummy??  Most all products on this are new!  I can't tell you any names but what great textures!  We used embossing powders, glitter, and more.

These "flakes" are just fabulous!!  I think I need to get them...

This  tag used the Ink Potion and various inks.  It REALLY shimmers!  I could not get that to show in my photo.  And the stamp is pretty cool but I have NO idea who made any of the stamps we used.

After making the background I stamped a cool text stamp then embossed the bottom image with a new Antique Mahogany embossing powder.

I did manage to get some of the gold shimmer in this tag. Again I stamped after making the background then stamped the top and bottom images.  No embossing on this tag.

I do not care for this tag.  After making the background we embossed the dogwood then, using a VersaMark pen we added the lilac e.p. to the blossoms.  It covered too much so there is no detail.  The pen we used had a frayed tip and so there was no real control.

I still have more to post but need to get some other projects done (along with our taxes)...  Stay tuned!

How about Clean Work Desk Thursday?

I cleaned that horrible work desk from yesterday's post.  I have some swaps to work on and I KNEW there was no way to do anything on that desk.  Therefore, this morning between washing and drying laundry and an hour of effort....

I'm in awe! Embellies are back in their drawers, ribbon on the shelf, scraps put in the blue bucket, unfinished projects in the green basket, and the Scor-Pal is ready (under the scrap paper and Scor-Mat). I even found my Cricut!  Wahoo!  But now I have another project to clean....

This is my computer desk.  I don't think it'll take an hour but maybe 20 - 30 min. as I sort paper, toss stuff, and more.  I have a BIG project in the works but can't tell you about it yet.  I've also printed out the template (to be altered)  for my final GVR class in Green Valley, AZ in March.  So much to do and so little time... yeah, right.  I have taxes to work on also. Bummer.  Anyway... Back to clearing/sorting/tossing and whatever!!

P.S. Computer desk is now clean! Wahoo! And 2 swap cards are done for the AZ Stampers.  Now I need to go do my Bible study and start supper right after that. :-)

What's on your Workdesk?

I was checking out Angie's blog today and seen her post about her workdesk.  She was answering a post by Stamping Ground who posts about her workdesk every Wednesday.  I looked at my desk that is waiting to be cleaned/cleared of stuff from this past weekend's retreat and getting ready for today's class and thought, Oh my! What a Mess!  I should answer this post!  Are you ready to see my mess?  It is REALLY bad and I cannot work until I get it cleaned.

There is absolutely NO ROOM to do anything right now!  What a hoot!  This afternoon I will hopefully have it cleared so I can start working again.  What does your workdesk look like?  Is it this bad?  I don't see how it can get worse...   LOL!

(Update: March 23rd post shows my desk clean, took about an hour.  I found stuff from AUGUST under the paper pile in front of the Cricut!)

Home from Retreat

This past weekend I took part in a retreat sponsored by AZ Scrapbooking of Green Valley, AZ at the Phoenix Scrapbookers Cottage in Phoenix, AZ.  I went as a worker and boy, did I wash dishes!  But I did get to take part in some of the classes and am still editing pictures.

One class was by Kristen who, using products by We R Memory Keepers, taught a scrapbook page.  I didn't deviate much from the sample as I'm not the greatest at scrapbooking.  I love my page and just gotta share it with you!

Isn't this just adorable!  I have to admit that it's busier than I like but, when you add the photo, hopefully it will adjust the focal point.

These flowers are so cool.  I added a drop of White Liquid Pearls to the center of each and on the yellow scalloped border in the top photo.  I think it added a bit of subdued bling.  The "FAMILY" piece does have a lot of glitter that you can't see in the photo.

I will be adding more photos as I get them downloaded and edited.

Layered Masking...

I was playing with a technique earlier this week from the Technique Junkies newsletter called Layered Masking.  How cool!!  This is my second card as the first is mailed (but I will post a pic of it soon) to my TJ 1 on 1 swap partner.

I used an assortment of stamps.... Crackle by TAC and the scene and fisherman by StampScapes.  I chalked my scene and used a button for the sun.

The fishing line was made with a ball point pen.  My fisherman just didn't really show up well against the rocks.  And I tried with this second picture to show the water as I added lines with the Stardust Clear Gel pen.  Looks really cool in person!

Have you been stamping?  Anything special?  Would love to hear from you!

Thankful CAS card

I've been working on getting some projects done as today I'm in the Phoenix area for a stamp retreat. This is through the AZ Scrapbooking store in Green Valley, AZ and I'm attending as a helper.  I will be checking in but won't be able to upload photos until I get home as my editing program is on my big PC and not on my laptop.

Therefore, here's an easy card I got done last weekend in a fit of productivity....

I used stamps by TAC and Sunday International.  This would be a great card for a birthday or anniversary.

I added some bling with the Stardust Clear gel pen on the butterfly.   You know that's my favorite bling!

Have you been making any cards lately?  I really want to do some scrapping but am needing to take some pictures!  I did get a couple good ones of our cat last week so maybe....

OWH Color Challenge

Yesterday I was the feature on the Operation Write Home color challenge!!!  How cool is that!  So I figured today I can share the card with you.  I challenged people with the colors blue, green, and tan/kraft.

The text is a TAC stamp and the cool lighthouse is from a set by Inkadinkado.

This is the inside.  There is absolutely NO bling on the card.  If you submit cards to OWH they cannot have ANY glitter of any kind. I hope you took part in the challenge!  Go check it out!

Bee Mine

I've have noticed lately while blurfing a style of card that is getting popular.... or at least I've seen quite a few on different blogs.  I've admired the design and finally played around with it.  And it became a Valentine card even though the holiday is over.

Isn't this just wild!  I embossed the white card cover with a "brick" cuttlebug folder.  I found a small piece of red  cardstock, trimmed then punched a 2" heart and added white "stitching" with my white gel pen.  I adhered it with foam mounting tape.  I stamped the cute little bee and text, both from a TAC set, cut out, colored, mounted.

Here you can see the bee, stitching, and embossing a bit better.  I REALLY like this design.  Hope to try it with flowers and some other punches I have. I colored the bee with Copics and added some Stardust Clear gel pen on the wings.  I just have to smile looking at this bee.  Have you tried this design yet?

And I just have to add a couple photos of my GVR (Green Valley Recreation) class in Green Valley, AZ last week.  Sandi, Betty, and Evelyn were just a hoot!

These gals are terrific at bouncing ideas off each other and working together.  They make the class just so easy to teach! Betty and Evelyn usually sit side by side and Sandi sits across from them. I just wished I would have more gals.  Oh well.  This was the Side Step Card class and they came up with some great cards!  My next GVR class is the 22nd and I'll be teaching the Middle Step Card.

Tomorrow I'm posting the card I submitted to Operation Write Home for their color challenge.  Be sure and check back!

Hubby's Valentine's Card

I'm still finishing up my Valentine cards and came across a cool tip on Pinterest.  It involved an embossing folder and embossing powder!  Sounds interesting, you say...  Well, looky looky!

I didn't quite get the whole embossing folder inked with my VersaMark pad before running the heart through it but the effect is pretty cool!  So it goes like this:  Ink the inside of your embossing folder that the background is raised (generally what's considered the back).  You may need to play around at bit to figure this out.  Insert your cardstock and run through your Wizard, Big Shot, Cuttlebug, whatever.  Carefully remove the paper and sprinkle on your embossing powder, shake off the excess, then heat.

Here's a closer view.  The raised texture is not powder embossed (unless you get too much VersaMark ink in your folder like the upper center in my picture).  This is just so cool in real life!!  The label is made from Spellbinders Labels 11 and the text is from a TAC stamp set.

I colored my white ribbon with a Copic marker to match my burgundy cardstock.  The bottom piece I used my Fiskars Treading Water border punch then ran this strip through my crimper for a ruffled look.  I think this card will be for my hubby.  He sure enjoys my cards.  I'll just have to go online and find a cool poem for the inside.

Are you enjoying my projects??  I haven't gotten many comments lately and hope you are being inspired.

Love You

I found the cutest simple yet gorgeous card over on Soapbox Creations and decided to give it a try.

This layout was a DeNami Sketch Challenge that Laurie took part in. I used some scraps to make this along with Black Scrappers Floss, a border punch by Fiskars, my Corner Chomper, a red paper posie, and a stamp from TAC.

Here's a close up of the flower.  I had to add something as I used a small glue dot under the floss and could not hide it entirely.  I think this may qualify as a Valentine card though there's not hearts.  What do you think?

Sand and Sea Challenge

I love joining in on the challenges over on Operation Write Home's blog and I finally got a chance (hubby is home sick so I stayed in my craft room so he could sleep) to make something for their 6th challenge called Sand and Sea.  The card MUST use tan and blues to qualify.  Well, I think this card does that!

And since the challenge had "sand" and "sea" I think my stamped image really qualified!  It's from a set by Inkadinkado called Down By The Sea.  The pattern paper is from The Angel Company (and do I have a LOT of their paper!) from a collection called Surf Shoppe.

I cut out a couple of the leaves and adhered them to kinda frame the stamped piece.  I love this saying! And the little guy looking for treasures... just precious!

So, stop by OWH and see a LOT more cards in this challenge!!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I follow a LOT of blogs, over 200, and one (I can't tell you who) caught my eye last week.  She made a beautiful simple card using butterflies and a simple message.  Well, since I'm still way behind on making Valentine cards I kinda changed it up a bit.

I cannot tell you who makes the heart stamp but the text is from a TAC set.  Each heart was stamped then cut out and adhered around the text.

I added some bling with my Stardust Clear gel pen and pop dotted the purple heart.  I like the simplicity of this design.  What do you think?

I've been busy teaching classes and trying to get samples made for upcoming classes.  Plus I'll be going on a stamp retreat in Phoenix the 16 - 19th with the AZ Scrapbooking store.  I'll be posting pics of the retreat when I get home.  There are 2 vendors joining the retreat (I'll know tomorrow who they are) that'll be teaching some classes.  Should be great fun!
