Ride that broomstick!

I've been working on my Halloween goodies for our kids and grandkids as I usually send them something each year.  This year I seen these cute broomstick bags by Martha Stewart.  I don't usually purchase much of her stuff but these just really caught my eye!  They seem to be made of kraft paper, very similar to the paper bag we crafters play with.

I made 6 and filled them with goodies.  The tags use a TAC set called Bone Appetit.  What a hoot!

This one is a bit closer.  I did wrap each in plastic wrap to keep them together in shipping.

Do you make Halloween goodies? I only do cutsie.  I don't like the scary/spooky. Would love to hear what you did this year!

This is the Day!

My mom turned 80 yesterday and this is the card I made for her.  We purchased the "Swivel Store" as her gift which I just really like!  Anyway, I'll show you the card.

I set it outside on a log so that's why it's leaning a bit.  I used a stamp from a Nina B. set called Wonderful Words. The paper I picked up at Joann's on sale.  It's from a 12 x 12 pad by K & Company called TC Cottage Garden.  I bought the matching Layered Accents too, but none of them matched this particular sheet. Oh well.

I made my own flower embellishment from assorted punched then added a rhinestone to finish it off.  A pop dot gave it the height I need to roll the petals down for dimension.

We all celebrated mom's birthday at Red Lobster.  She loves to go there for her birthday.  It was a great time!

I did get my pics downloaded from our Sedona, AZ trip but need to crop, resize, etc. Am ordering some paper from Memory Works to use for scrapping them.   I also got a cool globe frame from our LSS here in Green Valley, AZ to decorate and insert a picture of me and hubby.  But, gotta wait until my order comes in!

{TAC} Design Team Day!

Today is our bi-monthly Totally Awesome Chicks Design Team post and I decided to do simple.  I did "complicated" with my first post back on the 12th with my Halloween Fold-Up Treat box. So, this card was inspired by one I received from my friend Alison early last week.

I used TAC sets Dotted Peony (designed by Nina Bracket of Crafting in Croatia blog) and Sophisticated Sentiments.  The paper, ribbon, and brads were from TAC a LONG time ago and I just found them in my stash. They came together as a "multi-pack" called Coral Red by DCWV.  I also used the Fiskars Treading Water border punch.  I used VersaMagic ink that matched up so nicely! And I didn't forget the bling....

I dotted the centers of the flowers with the Stardust Clear Gel pen.  Did you think I forgot??

Mom needed a birthday card and this one only took minutes to make.  I am working on some scrapbook pages of our anniversary trip and hope to post soon.

Last cards from my kit...

Are you ready for the last of the Christmas cards from the Nordic Holiday Card Kit?  Remember it's only $14 plus shipping and tax!  Great deal for 12 cards!

For some reason I had a hard time stepping up these cards but I ended up using my Stardust Clear gel pen on the "winter" letters.  This card is rather stunning in real life.

I did have quite a time with my emery board taking off the little tabs on the large snowflake from it being a punch out.   And I used an opened paper clip to poke out the itty bitty holes on that snowflake but it was worth it!  And there is another punched out snowflake inside the card.  Can you come up with anything else I can do to step up this card??

How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Psalm 139:17

More from the Memory Works Card Kit

Since I finally finished the card kit I thought I'd show you some more from the Nordic Holiday Card Kit.  They are just so cute and easy but I did "jazz" them up a bit.

Aren't these just cool?  I love the unconventional shape!

I used a white gel pen for the faux stitching as directions said.  But I added Icicle Stickles on the ground and house roofs as my addition.

I have just one more set of 4 from this kit and I do have them completed.

A Recipe Bookmark

The AZ Stampers group I belong to has a monthly Above/Below swap.  This month we made recipe bookmarks.  I had a problem wrapping my mind around this one for some reason but it finally came together.

I started with some tags sent to my by my friend Virginia of Sierra Vista.  I printed the recipe on the computer then cut to size and corner rounded.  Stamps are from the sets Warm Thoughts by Papertrey Ink and Java Nice Day by The Angel Company.

This is a recipe for Faux Cappuccino that I drink almost daily!  It's low-fat, low-calorie.  And DELISH!

This weekend we are celebrating 30 years together in Sedona, AZ.  We're actually staying in Cottonwood, just 15 or so miles south of Sedona and I have reserved a ride on the Verde Canyon Railroad!  This is a 4 hour trip and I'm hoping my hubby will be ok as he broke his ankle at work on the 13th and is now taking a 6 (?) week layoff until it heals.  Not used to him at home this much! LOL! But if you're inclined to pray we do appreciate it.

I will sing to the LORD, for He has been good to me.  Psalm 13:6

Paper Pumpkins

I signed up for Pinterest a while back and found some fun paper pumpkins that I just had to make!  I used 14 1/2" wide strips of a pattern paper of about 6" or 7" then 14 1/2" wide strips of cardstock just 1" shorter. I punched holes in both ends of all strips with my Crop-a-Dile making sure they were all spaced the same distance.

I purchased some long-shanked paper brads and layered the longer strips over the shorter strips and used a brad through all 28 strips.  Next I used a brad through only the pattern paper and one through only the cardstock.  Carefully, starting with the cardstock inside, form into a circle.  Then, again very carefully, form the outer into a circle over the inner circle.  Clear as mud??

Next I cut a piece of 1" x 3" brown cardstock (or whatever size you want your stem) and formed into a circle and adhered to top (where all 28 strips are bradded).  Then the green scrappers floss.  Voila!

I definitely recommend using a cardstock for the inside but you can use pattern paper for the top layer.  And these little rascals will NOT stand up without help.  Try a jar lid or something. Cupcake papers even work!

O LORD, you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures.  Psalm 16:11

Christmas Cards by Memory Works

I decided to give you a look at one of the card kits available by Memory Works.  This one is called Nordic Holiday Card Kit by Basic Grey.  It's $14 and makes 12 cards - 4 each of 3 designs.  It's very easy, instructions included.  I did step up some of the cards.

Here's the package.  You can see the 3 designs in color right on the package!

Here's all the components.  There's chipboard, brads, rub-ons.... almost everything you need!  You supply the adhesive, glitter, white gel pen, and ink.

All the components are numbered.  I did have to sand edges as the little "tabs" from the punch outs showed too much for my liking.  But I do a lot of sanding anyway!

Here's Card #1.  Not bad.  Very easy.  And I don't think these took me a 1/2 hour.  I inked around the card edges and other pieces.

I grabbed my Stardust Black gel pen to use on the eyes and buttons.  The little snowman is chipboard and is self-adhesive.

I didn't do anything extra with the words.  They were fine!

I'll be posting soon the other cards.

If you want to order anything you must contact me.  Please don't order direct as I won't get the credit for your order.  I can take check or Paypal {gift}.

We love Mabelle R.O. (And desserts)!

Today a few of us "ex"-angels are blog hoppin' to showcase the wonderful images/stamps made by Mabelle Ramirez Ortiz. I'm playing with her set called Little Cupcake.  If I was paying more attention to my inventory I would have played with Apple of My Eye as it's still uninked!!!  Oh, naughty me!!!

If you haven't arrived here from Laura's blog you need to start at the beginning.  Diana, the Memory Crafter is first so click on her blog name and you'll be starting at the beginning.

Anyway, I'm sure I used this set in a way it wasn't really intended....

I'm still making Halloween cards for the kids and thought a spooky cake would qualify.

I colored with Copic markers, used a Nestie, black posies and my Stardust Clear Gel pen.  How do you like the specks??  I have a tool I purchased forever ago called the Cool Cat Trax Tool. Oh, and the paper is a TAC™ paper pad called Simply Spooky.  After I assembled everything I got to thinking the little black posies should have been on the right side of the cake.  Oh well... Hindsight.

Mabelle is offering blog candy - 2 digi images! So leave a comment at EVERY blog please and the winner will be randomly chosen from those who link a TAC {only} Mabelle card/project.
From here you go to Missy's blog, In My Studio With The Cats...   Just click on her blog name.

Cowboy Bath

I am one of my best customers and I just had to purchase this stamp from QKR Stampede.  I used to have a horse and kinda considered myself a cowgirl but, I have to admit, I NEVER took a bath this way!

I used a TAC set also for the hat and kerchief embellies called Wild West.

Here he is a little closer.  I colored with Copic markers. You can't see the Stardust Clear Gel pen in the water.

The large text is also by QKR but the Happy Birthday is a TAC stamp.

And this is the back of the card.  This, also, is a TAC stamp.  This card is for my brother whose birthday is coming up soon!  He's not a cowboy but did date a gal who did endurance racing in Texas. Actually he's more of a golfer but I've made him so many golf cards over the years I just had to do something different.   I hope he likes this....

Totally Awesome Chicks Design Team - We're LIVE!

Today is our first TAC Design Team post!  I am so privileged to have been selected for the next 3 months of honoring The Angel Company stamps with other ex-angels.  So, without further ado, my first project:

I seen another ex-angel post a really cool treat box and, needless to say, I had to purchase the template!  This is the box open and filled (I ate the candy corn after the photo shoot... yummy!).  I used the retired set "Halloween".

And  while this project was being put together my desk looked like this!

How pathetic! Of course, it's better now.  Seems when I'm working on a project that items just pile up.

Here's a close up of the box.  It was a hoot to make!!

And here it is folded.  It will fit in an A2 envelope but will probably require extra postage.  I just love those glittery little bats.  They're made by Petaloo and are foam stickers.

I purchased this cool treat box template from The Doodle Pantry.  If you are interested please purchase the template. Your purchase will help them stay in business as so many companies are closing due to poor sales. It's only $2 and they have more great designs for sale.

I did post a sneak peak back on Oct. 1.  The moon is a 2" circle that I lightly sponged with a pale blue ink.  Doesn't really show up well in the photos.

Please check the other chicks' blogs by clicking on their links in the sidebar just below the logo.  Have fun!

Christmas Moose

The other day I got my order from Eureka Rubber stamps and just HAD to play with this moose!
It's the Large Christmas Moose and it was so easy to color!

But wait, what is that "pull" tag on the side??  Looky, looky!

It says Merry Christmoose!  I love this design and got it from my good friend, KellyRae over on Sassy Rubber Artist!

I used Copic markers to color this fun fellow and added the Stardust Clear Gel pen to the light bulbs.  My hubby got a real kick from this!

I also used a retired TAC set called Interactive for the "pull" text.

I plan on practicing more with this style and maybe can do a tutorial on it as I get it better figured out.  I think it took me a couple hours just to make the card and that doesn't include the coloring!  Oh, these are the markers I used...

The 2 Ciao markers are Y06 and R29.

At least I have 1 of my 5 Christmas cards done for the month now.  I want to make more of this card and may end up taking this one apart to get my measurements...  Have you ever done that?

Don't forget that tomorrow evening I'll be debuting my first project as a Totally Awesome Chick!  I'm SURE you'll love my project!!

The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly.  1 Timothy 1:14

Had enough coffee??

These are the last 2 cards for my Nov. 2nd class.  This class will repeat Nov. 15 at 6 pm.

Not only did I used PTI's Warm Thoughts set but I added a TAC set called Running Stitches.  Doesn't it almost look "plaid" on the edge?

I also used my 1/4" hole punch to make the corners on the white and dotted cardstocks then added little black rhinestones to each corner.  And the steam and coffee have the Stardust Clear Gel pen added.

And the last card for the class. I used a Fiskars Treading Water border punch and 2 different sizes of  scalloped oval punches for the main image.

What do you think of the text?  I like how it balances out the cup image.

Isn't it cool how one can use just 1 set of stamps (mostly) and the same papers and come up with so many different looks! My students seem to love this along with how easy it is to replicate these cards at home with their products.  Just think of changing the coffee to a small flower and the papers to shades of blue or pink!  Same layouts but the look would be so different!  Hmmm...
