Scrapbooking our Sedona weekend

I finally got some spare ink tanks for my printer and got some of the pictures printed from our fun weekend in Sedona, AZ!  The fall colors were at their peak and we took a 2 hour trolley tour besides eating and walking around.  Didn't do any shopping but looked in a few shops.  Seen the most amazing candles that glowed from inside when lit!  Little pricey for my but gorgeous none the less.

All the paper if from a package by Colorbok. I did "some" stamping using some retired TAC sets. This first page is a few of the scenes from around town. The upper left is a sculpture called "Follow the Leader." Was amazing in the detail.  Top right was the home of Lucille Ball. We were told that quite a few celebrities own homes in the area.  Bottom left is Erin, the Trolley Tour driver.  She was amazing!  And bottom right is a gorgeous fountain in a small section of town where many art galleries are located.

We had so much fun on the Trolley Tour. Sedona has some wonderful rock formations such as Coffee Pot Rock (top), Madonna & Child and the Nuns (under Coffee Pot), Cathedral Rock (or maybe Castle Rock), and Capitol Butte (bottom).  The rich red colors is from an abundance of iron in the rocks.  You ought to see them at sunrise or sunset!!

Here is the Chapel of the Holy Cross.  You can go inside from the back but my pictures were just too dark. It's a Catholic church and has a small gift shop in the basement.  Erin took our picture in front.  We had her to ourselves for this 1 hour part of the tour.

I will show more in my next post.  I still have a bunch of photos to print but will get to them one of these days to "scrap".

Recovering from Thanksgiving dinner...

We ate so much! How about you?  Even our little manx cat, Miss Piggy, pigged out (pun intended) so much that she crawled into a blanket to rest.  It was a hoot watching her dig her way in.  We ended up stretched out on our recliners and watching some good Hallmark movies that I pre-recorded (we don't like watching commercials).

I "cooked" a dinner that mom purchased at Safeway that had a 10 - 12 lb. turkey, mashed potatoes, rolls, gravy, dressing, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie. It was great!  I put a pretty snowflake table cloth on the table and then added this pumpkin....

I just couldn't have a nekkid pumpkin!  I just grabbed my sewing pins and some leaves and there it is!  Looked kinda dorky on the snowflake tablecloth but I liked it just the same.

Now to get back into making some cards and stuff to post here...

This one's for you!

First of all, I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration today!  We (my folks and us) are having dinner at our place.  We will be thanking God for all His wonderful blessings.

Heather, an angel, has a sketch challenge occasionally and I decided to give it a try.  I have to admit I'm not wild about this card.  The ink pad I used on the butterfly (Pumpkin Spice VersaMagic) is drying out and I didn't get as good an image as I wanted.  I used Penelope SWIC paper and matching cardstock along with Noir PH ink for the text and paper edges.

I also used Landscape PH ink, Happily Grateful and Sophisticated Sentiments (hostess level B) stamp sets.

Here's a closeup of the butterfly.  You can't see the Stardust Clear Gel pen on the antenna but the butterfly is raised up with foam mounting tape.  I may add some pencil to the butterfly to give a bit more color..

Hello Hello

I recently got the 8th Edition CD from Technique Junkies and found this bonus technique that's not been in the newsletters.  Well, by golly, it was so easy and fast yet I love the look!  Remember when "shadow" stamps were popular? The look is similar but I just used my little Palette Ink Spots directly on the white card stock!

The phrase is from the Sophisticated Sentiments Hostess level A set and the cool flower is from the Place In My Heart set. I used Noir, Landscape, Beaux Arts Blue, and Moulin Rouge PH inks. I colored the white sheer ribbon with Copic marker R89 which matched the burgundy cardstock very well!

After I inked the images I stamped them off once on scrap paper then reinked the edges.  The leaves/stem just didn't retain as much ink as I hoped but still came out pretty good.  I added some bling with my Stardust Clear Gel pen to the leaves and some petals (which you can't see here).

I finally got some new ink cartridges for my printer so hope to make some pages of our Sedona trip soon.

Tag - You're it!

Well, some of us angels on Paper Wings are at it again!  We're blog hoppin'!!   This month's theme is tags!  TAC's paper packs (the SWICs) contain a sheet of tags and we have a tendency to not use them, me included.  I just get brain burps when looking at them.  I hope we give you some inspiration on playing with them more. I used our Cha Cha SWICmatching card stock, and ribbon to create the card.  The text is from the Tag Tidbits set (which is a classic!) and stamped with Noir PH ink.

I cut out a flower from the cool paper to use as my focal point on the tag.  It's layered on a circle punched with the Mega Circle punch. I used foam mounting tape under the circle and under the flower for more dimension.

You can't see it here but I did add some bling with the Stardust Clear Gel pen on the yellow scallop center.

Please check out these angels blog and leave us all a comment on what you think or click on the ratings.  We much appreciate your input.

Hang in There

An angel blogged about a young boy who was seriously injured in a car accident that claimed the life of his brother caused by a drunken driver.  I made this card to send to him for encouragement.  I used Good Timber and 2 shades for Bazzil card stock.  I also used my Scor-Pal and Scor-Bug to embellish this card.  I also used Running Stitches to make it look like I did some sewing on my card...

I stamped the tree with Cognac PH ink since it coordinated so well with the card stock.  And the text comes from the Sophisticated Sentiments hostess level A set.

I am in awe how clear my close-up picture turned out.  If only I can remember what I did....  Oh, can you see the holes in the stitching?  I used my paper piercer and an old mouse pad to make these.  I hope and pray the youngster pulls through and recovers quickly.  I feel so sad for the family to lose a son.

Purple girl...

No, she's not purple but her dress is purple.  I chose a couple pieces of scrap card stocks from the Neutral Cardstock Stack, my Wizard, and 2 Cuttlebug embossing folders as a start to my card.  The cute little gal is from the Wonder & Joy stamp set stamped with the Momento Tuxedo Black ink. This set is much fun to play with and great to color with Copic markers (which I used). This is the first time I used this little gal and I can just imagine her enjoying that grass she's walking in!

After I embossed the cardstock I used my sanding block to get the white core to show.  The purple ribbon is actually white that was colored with a Copic marker.

I used the following Copic markers:
    Hair: E70, 55, & 57
    Skin:E000,00,01, and R01
    Dress & hair bow/ribbon: R37, V06 & 17
   Grass: G82, 94, 99
   Blue background: B41

I used my Stardust Clear Gel pen on her hair bow and added a sparkle in her eyes. TAC™ is starting video classes for us "angels" on the Copic markers.  I'm looking forward to learning more about these fabulous markers and coloring better.

Happy Bear Day!

My friend Suzanne's hubby turned 65 last week. She had a surprise party for him and I just had to make a card!  You know me, any excuse to make a card!!! This card uses the Retiform technique again but you can really see it this time.  Oh, did you check out Mischelle's blog for the video tutorial?  If not, just check out my post on the 12th.  Anyway....   I started with the Forest Friends set and stamped the bear in Momento Tuxedo Black and colored with Copic markers E01, E55, E74, T2, T5, N4,YG03, YG06, and the Blender.

I used Burnt Umber and Raw Sienna PH inks for the background technique. For the phrases in the technique I used sets Keep Blessing Me (Hostess level A set),  Older Than Dirt (Purchase with Purchase set),  Sophisticated Sentiments (also Hostess level A set), and Tag Tidbits on the sign.  All this was stamped on White Caboodle card stock with a brown base.

Here's a closeup of the bear.  I need to find something better than paper towels to texture my animals.  But then, I did want him to look old and ratty for Ron.  Did I accomplish that a bit??

It's so sugar coated....

Our youngest granddaughter's birthday is coming up and I wanted to play with an old technique called Retiform. Mischelle, the owner and CEO of TAC™, has a video on her BLOG if you'd like to learn more. You can barely see the technique but I like this little card.

I think Rowan will love the brightness of this.  I used the set Sugar Coated Sweetness, yellow, chartreuse, and hot pink papers from the DCWV Brights cardstock stack.  Also used some narrow chartreuse ribbon and Copic markers, RV29, B41, YG06, Y06, and Blender.

That is a bit of ink under the cake, and, since I didn't use White Caboodle card stock, the makers bled a bit. The background technique used Chartreuse, Paris Lights, and Claret PH ink and the cake is stamped with Tuxedo Black Momento ink. I also used the Stardust Clear Gel pen on the dots and flower center of the cake.

I think Rowan will enjoy this card.  One almost needs sunglasses to look at it!
And tomorrow I'll be in a Blog Hop so stay tuned!!!

Deck the Halls!!

The Angel Company™ is having a Blog Hop! They're wanting to showcase Christmas ideas such as home decor, cards, gift ideas, etc.  Well, I just had to join in!

I made 2 items using Reece SWIC and matching card stock. This paper is so rich in colors! I also used the Jingle Jolly stamp set mostly because of its size in order to fit my photo holder.

Here's my 2 items. The photo holder is made from 2 wooden blocks, 1 1/2" each.  They are painted, covered, and decoupaged for a shiny finish.  Here's a closeup.

I colored the images with Copic markers to coordinate with the paper.  An edge of each paper in the sheet has color dots to help you match your markers, pencils, whatever.  I also used the Stardust Clear Gel pen to embellish the snowflake and ornament.  The snowflake is stamped in Bordeaux PH ink which coordinated nicely with the paper. The photo is our lovely granddaughter Rylie.

I made a matching card using a sketch from a Paper Wings challenge this past Tuesday.  The dotted paper background is from the Dotted Swiss Cuttlebug embossing folder then sanded to bring out the white.

I colored the tree with Copic markers - Y32, E55, R89, G94, and Blender. I used the Ex. Jumbo Circle punch  on the brown and a 1" flower punch to make the button back. I colored the white Scrappers Floss (discontinued by manufacturer) and colored with the R89 marker and twisted with a skewer.  Again, I used the Stardust Clear Gel pen on the star and ornaments.

I sure hope you check out the other blogs that are involved in the Blog Hop!! We all appreciate a comment when you visit!  (PS - the first entry may not work, keep trying as the hop goes or click HERE and you'll get there.)

Christmas dove of peace...

I was recently in a Christmas card front swap with some other angels.  I only managed to get 1 set done but sure wished I got another.  Oh well. I used the set Peace which has some beautiful doves...

I stamped the bird twice using L'Amore PH ink and cut out the wing which I then raised with foam mounting tape.

I added Stardust Clear Gel pen to the eye to give it a sparkle.  I also used the Nestie labels 3 and my Wizard along with my Mega Circle punch.  The scarlet and white cardstocks give this a rather traditional look in my opinion.

I do have all my Christmas cards done.  I hope to get more made to sell.  Oh, there's another TAC™ blog hop coming up this weekend!  It's called "Deck the Halls".  I hope to get something made....

Old trucks....

My hubby's bday is this weekend and he and my dad have been restoring our old 1947 International pickup (I posted a pic a while back on my personal blog of how far they've gotten). What do these have in common, you ask??  Well, the new stamp set, Good Things, has a great old truck image that I really wanted to use in his birthday card! Unfortunately the link works but the picture isn't up yet, don't know why...   Anyway, here's the card I made for him.

I used Amberly Grace SWIC, matching cardstock and some screw brads.

I used the Stardust Clear Gel pen on the chrome, headlights and hubcaps.

I even took a picture of the Copic markers I used except I see that I missed the Blender. Oh well.

We spent the weekend in Sedona, AZ but not for his Bday or a belated anniversary get-away.  We had to pick up some equipment that a friend from northwest WY sent down for hubby.    We had a great time and the country was beautiful!!! I highly recommend a visit!

Looply Little Girl....

Here's my 2nd card using the Double Loopy punches by EK Success for M.S.  I used Amberly Grace SWIC and matching card stock.  I even kept track of which Copic markers I used! This cute little girl is from the Mini Joy Limited Edition set (3 stamps) from last month.  It's a mini of the Wonder & Joy set. I stamped this cute little girl with my Momento Tuxedo Black ink on White Caboodle card stock.  This white paper is recommended by Copic and the markers do not bleed or feather as does cheaper card stock.

I think I should have chosen a different colored card base but the white does set off the punched corners of the gray layer.

I used the following Copic markers:
     skin: E000, E00
     clothes, hair ribbon: BG72, 75, 78, YR21
     hair, flower pot: E55, 57
     flower: R85, G14
     ledge & sheer ribbon: YR14

Now that I have DSL internet I can watch some YouTube videos to help me with my Copic markers.  Just need to find the time.

This ones For You!!

I got into a creative mood yesterday and made 2 cards!!!  Yes, 2!!! I will show one today and the other on Saturday.  Both cards are a bit more "complicated" than I'm used to doing but I seen a couple sketches while blurfing (blog surfing) and, ding ding, my mind started working!!!  I LOVE it when that happens!  This card I used Angelee SWIC (retired) and matching cardstock.  The punched corners are an EK Success punch marketed to, gasp, Martha Stewart, and is called Double Loopy ( this description fits me on many days).

The text is from the Sophisticated Sentiments set (a Hostess level B set) and stamped in Noir PH ink. The ribbon is white satin colored with a coordinating Copic marker.

This pretty little image is the Mini Damask stamp, a freebie (found in the Fall Supplement) when you have a qualifying $30 net order.  It's stamped in Malted Mauve VersaMagic ink. And the cool "pearl" is found in the Clear & Pearl Gem Collection.   The dot in the upper left corner of the stamped piece is from a piece of dirt - gotta double check my cards before taking the pictures.

I used a piece of plastic canvas to help me with the paper piercing.  It's wonderful for keeping lines straight and evenly spaced.

I wanted to show you this interesting tape dispenser.  It's marketed by Viva Las Vegastamps! Our LSS got some of these in and I bought one to "test". So far, so good!  It cost about $2. My 1" tape didn't fit and the 1/8" kinda wiggled around too much but this 1/2" works pretty good. You can change out tapes easily and it is adjustable as you can see by the little tab at the bottom.  Pretty cool.
