Moonlighting Technique

Isn't this a cool card?! I seen it on this blog earlier this month then again on Heather Scott's blog today. I inked the tree from Good Timber first on my Versamark pad then on my Noir PH pad then stamped on a square of yellow cardstock. I then sprinkled clear embossing powder over it, tapped off the excess, and heated until done (almost sounds like I'm baking something!). I then punched my Mega Circle punch on the edge of a post-it note (so the sticky area was in the circle) and layed this over the tree. Then I sponged Starry Night PH ink then Noir PH ink as shown. I then punched the corners of a square of black cardstock and attached the yellow cardstock. You can't see them but the right and left sides of the black are pierced. Then I took a 5 1/2" x 11" piece of orange cs, folded in half, and adhered the image. I stamped the text from the BooKoo Blessings with Noir ink in the corner as shown. I'd love to see what you come up with!
One thing you need to remember is that the colors on websites are not usually true to real life. I noticed on my online catalog that the cardstock colors are off a bit so they do look different than my sample. Now that I have this posted I think I'm going to the living room and watch a movie! Tomorrow I will be picking the winner of the dozen Christmas cards and contacting the winner by email. Stay tuned! And I hope you all have a great Labor Day weekend!!

New blog

I have started a new blog called Livin' Hot in Arizona. The link is in the Favorite Links section in the left hand column. I decided to separate my stampin' stuff from our personal stuff for business reasons. You will not be able to subscribe to my personal blog but when I update it I will make a little note of it here if you are interested. It may also show projects I make with non-TAC stamps. So now, back to stamping!!

New Bible cover from Daily Window

I finally got my new Bible cover from Daily Window (see link in left menu) and got the insert created. I used my Our Saviour stamp set, Genevieve Fly With It Collection, Brights Cardstock Stack, coordinating VersaMagic Ink, and white satin ribbon. I may do something different with the lower stamped piece because I'm not sure about the circles in the corners. I love the fact that you can change the decorative insert as per seasons or whatever!

Here you can see the back study area. The pen holder insert can be removed as to your preference. It is nice and sturdy!

The cover costs about $30 plus $4.80 priority shipping at this time. Check out the Daily Window site! Lots of great products and even some highly decorated totes and stuff. Just amazing!

Now, have you posted a comment on my 100th post dated Aug. 22? Remember you may be a winner but you can't win if you don't post a comment!

And I have uploaded quite a few new cards and misc. items to the gallery of my stampingcarol.com website. Check them out!

Fall Supplement

We have been informed that the Fall Supplement will be available to order out of October 1st. This is great for scrapbookers but I know us cardmakers this is too late. Oh well. I created a slideshow in the left hand menu of them but they appear small. Check out my gallery website to see larger views.

We had a great time in Dallas. I'm still recovering from all the fun, great food, and traveling. While the guys were at the Promise Keepers conference us gals (mom, DeDe (my sister-in-law), and me) seen the movie, Mama Mia (hilarious!) and went to the Dallas World Aquarium (amazing!). Sunday we all went to The Grassy Knoll and the 6th Floor Museum at Dealy Plaza. This is where President Kennedy was assassinated. We met Robert Groden who helped prove that the Warren Commission was involved in a great cover-up and probable conspiracy of the murder. For more information click here. We purchased the book and it is excellent! And it was proven that Oswald was not involved! WOW! Anyway, we got home Monday night to a yard-full of weeds! It rained 1/2" while we were gone. Dean has his work cut out for him this weekend!

This is my 99th post. I will be giving something away for my 100th post so you will need to post a comment on that post. I will be drawing a name of those posted so be sure you give your email address so that I can contact you! Happy stamping!!

Frames, Sunsets, and Bugs

I took this picture at my folk's place in northwest New Mexico and created this frame for it. It will be dad's Father's Day gift when they come back in October. I purchased the frame at a new store called Big Deals, kind of a cross between Big Lots and a dollar store, for $1.99. It was white with Mother's Day writings in bright red. I colored the edges with alcohol inks (and I have lovely green & brown fingers to show for it). I cut out strips of Amelia SWIC paper and adhered with Royal Coat Decoupage Finish. I then stamped the tag with the Eccl. 2:3 scripture from the Be Still set using Noir PH ink, added the eyelet from the Amelia Hardware kit with the Crop-a-Dile and added the 3 shades of rafia. I adhered it to the corner using 1/4" Wonder Tape. Turned out pretty good, I think!

This sunset picture was taken standing out our back door last night. Isn't it something!!
I did not alter this picture any other than shrinking it to a size I could upload here. I think I may have to print the larger image and frame or use on a card.

And this "bug", which looks like a strange grasshopper was fleeing our house when Dean started spraying for termites, spiders, and the like yesterday. It is about the size of a thumb! I also seen HUGE caterpillars the size of my pointer finger! I've been told they'll become butterflies. Just some amazing critters here in the desert.

I'm getting excited about going to Dallas on Friday. Talked to my brother yesterday afternoon about our arrival time so he can pick us up. Also told him to get a wheelchair for my mom's use at the Dallas/Fort Worth airport. I'll start packing tomorrow, been doing laundry today. So, I now need to get clothes out of the washer and into the dryer. Hope you're having a great day!

Drying out

Well, we're drying out from the flood Thursday night. Dean did make it home, our Buick LeSabre went through without much problem. Our UPS man got stuck yesterday and I filled in the big holes he left in the road. This morning it looked like someone else got stuck but we could get through with the car, did bounce some. Dean plans on trying to fix the 4 wheel drive part of our pickup because it will not make it through the gully, just too soft of sand.

I decided to upload photos of me (now you'll know what I look like!) and Dean at a Salt River Canyon overlook northeast of Tucson about 100+ miles. This place is just amazing!! This is on the way to my parent's summer place in New Mexico. There were quite a few switchbacks in the road and very slow speeds! Except for the lack of pine trees the road reminded me of the Beartooth Highway between Red Lodge, MT and Yellowstone Park. That is one of the most beautiful drives you'll ever see! We lived in Red Lodge back in late 1984 to late 1988. We seen the 1988 fires of Yellowstone first hand. Terrible!

I planted 2 poplar trees today and boy, was it hot and humid!! I was drenched with sweat. We did get a little shower that cooled things off about 10 degrees. Miss Piggy, our yellow manx cat, got caught outside and when she finally got in she was so mad! Like it was all my fault it rained! What a hoot! Dean was changing the oil on the car but he was in my dad's shop with the swamp cooler running, dry and cool. Hopefully he'll have time to work on the pickup. Thursday morning I get a manicure/pedicure then Friday we fly out to Dallas for the Promise Keepers convention. Gotta look good!

Yesterday I made a couple of Knock Knock joke books to sell and finished some card fronts for a swap on Paper Wings. Tomorrow we plan on going into Tucson to see Journey to the Center of the Earth in 3D. So, may not have any cards or whatever to post soon. Hope you're having a great weekend!!

Flash Flood

We are under a flash flood alert but we are actually having quite a flash flood! This is our road. The water was running about 5' deep and VERY fast! Much damage. I'm sure the road will be impassable when the flood is over. There is a trailer at the far end of this "river" and Dean said the fence was covered with debris and laying down. The water went under the house so the poor people will have settling problems and their sewer is probably flooded. There is a corral to the left about 1/2 way down this road and I seen 1 horse out, no idea where the other 2 are.

Dean will probably have to stay at our Pastor's house tonight. I will not be able to get out tomorrow with the pickup as the 4 wheel drive is broken in it. Fun - yeah, right. I could hear the roar of the water from our house which is about 600 feet from this intersection. Glad we don't use landlines for our phone service!! As you can see the phone box is half under water!

I guess I'll have a quiet night tonight! Home, all alone. Hmmmm.... maybe I should do some stamping!!

Another Christmas Card!

I just love making non-traditional Christmas cards!! I've probably already have almost 40 cards made as I send cards to my downline and customers. This card uses the Cha Cha Cardstock and Ribbon along with white premium cardstock. The poinsettia is from the Christmas Season set and the text from Tag Tidbits. I used the Extra Jumbo Circle and 1" Circle punches. I stamped the images with Noir PH ink and colored the flower with my Prismacolor Pencils to match the cardstock.

So, how are you coming with your Christmas cards?? You know Christmas is only a few months away!

I am still working on pictures from our trip to New Mexico this past weekend. The Salt River Canyon and Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest were amazing! Arizona isn't just desert!! And in NM me, my dh, and dad hiked to the rim of a "dead" volcano, climbed a couple hundred feet into a lava tube, and viewed an ice cave near the volcano! Was a lot of fun!

So, have you taken any trips lately?? Got photos?? Time to scrap them!
